Born in Buea, Cameroon on 26th June 1943, she completed her education Cameroon (elementary), Nigeria (Enugu Queen's School), London (University College of London ) and then United States (Providence Brown University) where she obtained a PhD in Zoology.

In 2014's convocation in UB, she brought back some old memories as she explained that because she preached the virtues of discipline, morality, and patriotism, many tagged her tyrant; while others called her an iron lady.
However, she said all the name calling did not deter her from laying UB’s foundation of excellence.
The University of Buea under her leadership distinguished itself as the leading state university in Cameroon. In 1999, she was named the best female manager in Cameroon. The AMPHI 750 is there to always remind us of her efforts.
